What Are Our Grads Doing?

CMU English grads find rewarding careers in diverse range of occupations, many of which build harmony between two or more fields of expertise. There are CMU English grads working in journalism, technical or policy writing, library science, public relations, marketing, art therapy, allied health, skilled trades, and the church.

Many of our alumni pursue education degrees, and can be found teaching in school divisions across Canada and the US. Some have gone outside North America to launch successful teaching careers overseas in countries like England, South Korea, and Turkey. Others pursue graduate studies toward careers in academia, where they serve as professors, researchers, and creatives.

Additionally, by bringing their training in narrative, metaphor, or textual analysis into partnership with other skill sets and creative modes, many of our graduates work part- or full-time as artists. They are poets, novelists, photographers, graphic designers, illustrators, book makers, interdisciplinary arts instructors, and performers. English grads also write and edit magazines, newspapers, online publications, and literary manuscripts both locally in Winnipeg and nationally.
