CMU HONORS STUDENT-ATHLETES
The CMU athletic community gathered on March 19th to honor the individual and team achievements of the past year. In 2009-2010, the CMU Blazers won championships in Women’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball and Women’s Basketball, and played in the conference finals in Men’s Soccer, Men’s Hockey and Men’s Basketball. |
BLAZERS WIN CHAMPIONSHIP ON HOME COURT More than 300 spectators packed the Loewen Athletic Centre on Saturday night to witness CMU defeat Red River College 70-26 to win the 2010 MCAC Championship. |
CMU WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM CAPTURE THIRD CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIP Good things came in threes this weekend for the CMU Blazers women’s volleyball team as they defeated St-Boniface in Saturday’s semifinal 3-0 and then knocked off Red River in Sunday’s championship 3-1. |
Rebels Claim Second Consecutive Championship It was a heartbreaking end to a highly successful MCAC season for the CMU men’s basketball team on Saturday night. The top-seeded team entering the championship, CMU watched Red River win the men’s semifinal on Friday night over Providence College to advance to Saturday’s cross-town showdown and it seemed that the extra day off rest didn’t do the Blazers any favour. |

CMU SWEEPS CONFEDERATION COLLEGE The Confederation College Thunderhawks from Thunder Bay, Ontario visited CMU on Friday and Saturday night for exhibition basketball games against the Blazers men’s basketball team and found the MCAC leaders to be on top of their game. |
BLAZERS ARE TOO HOT TO HANDLE The CMU women’s volleyball team kept their perfect MCAC season intact in a straight-set victory over second place Red River College on Saturday night, winning by scores of 25-15, 26-24, 25-19. |
A POWERFUL OPPONENT The Blazers dropped a straight-set loss to league-leading Red River on Saturday night by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-20. In their previous meetings this season the Blazers had les Voyageurs number. Rarely were matches short and even more rarely would one team win back-to-back sets. |
PRESSURE WIN FOR BLAZERS BASKETBALL In a battle for first place in the MCAC women’s basketball standings, CMU pounded Red River 83-46 on Friday night to claim the top seed. |
