PEACE SHIELDS and TOTEMS

Students will create unique peace shields and totems expressing their personal strengths and individuality.

A peace shield creates a visual and symbolic representation of ourselves. The shield tells everyone who we are and with this knowledge, we know how to better interact with others.

Participants will choose an animal or nature-based item they to represent themselves. We then express and identify our strengths and challenge(s), with symbols in four corners—the social, physical, interpersonal and knowledge-based components.

From there we carry on to building totems as a artistic community. The totems are constructed by individuals and are an expression of the individual as part of an artistic collaboration.
