Letterpress & Linocut
This course will teach students the basics of letterpress and linocut printing. These techniques go back to the Middle Ages, and were the basis of mass communication for 500 years. Today, artists use letterpress and linocut to explore the relationship of words and images within a hand-worked medium. Students will learn to set type (letter-by-letter) and to cut linoblocks. The course will start with group projects and the course will culminate with students producing a text and image combination of their own design and execution.
