Cartooning, Painting and Printmaking for Children
Offered by Community School of Music & the Arts
Art classes for grades 2-8 available
Cartoon art, acrylic painting and printmaking are on the menu for children
from January through March, 2008 at the Canadian Mennonite University (CMU)
Community School of Music & the Arts.
Classes in cartoon art begin in January, with grades 2-4 meeting January 10,
17, 24 & 31 from 6-7 PM. Classes for grades 5-8 meet January 10, 17, 24 & 31
from 7:30-8:30 PM. The classes will be taught by Marianne Jonasson, who also
teaches at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
Acrylic Painting classes with Tanya Olfert begin in February, with grades 2-4
meeting February 7, 14, 21 & 28 6-7 PM and grades 5-8 meeting February 7, 14, 21
& 28 from 7:30-8:30 PM. The four classes will introduce basic colour theory,
composition, and an exploration of what paint can do.
Printmaking classes with Bree Bergen take place in March, with grades 2-4
meeting March 6, 13, 20 & 27 from 6-7 PM to learn about the art of printmaking
and to make colourful prints. Grades 5-8 meet March 6, 13, 20 & 27 from
7:30-8:30 PM to learn about various printmaking methods and techniques.
All classes are at CMU, 500 Shaftesbury Blvd.
Cost for the classes is $70.

The Community School of Music & the Arts is a program of CMU. It offers
individual music lessons (voice and various instruments); ensembles (vocal and
instrumental); performing opportunities (monthly recitals and master classes);
and art classes and workshops (water colours, acrylics, mixed media).
