Proclaiming the Unique Claims of Christ 2010: Negotiating the Christian-Muslim Interface
CMU welcomes Emmanuel Ali El-Shariff on campus March 15 and 16 for its 2010 Lecture Series – Proclaiming the Unique Claims of Christ 2010: Negotiating the Christian-Muslim Interface. The Series is sponsored by the Winnipeg Centre for Ministry Studies and the CMU Institute for Theology and the Church.
Emmanuel is a Christian of Muslim background who accepted Christ in 1995. He received the call to go back to his Muslim people to tell them about Jesus Christ. Emmanuel is a public speaker, leader, and teacher. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and French. He holds the Master of Arts in Global Christian Studies (Missions) and is a Doctor of Ministry degree candidate at Providence Theological Seminary.
Emmanuel is passionate about evangelism and follow-up through a blended use of media tools. He is one of the pioneers in the use of paltalk to reach Muslims. He also pioneered planting the first Arabic Church in Kinshasa in 1997. He established the follow-up ministry, Evangelism by Correspondence Network, at Family Life Network nine years ago. He also founded the Voice of Testimony ministry. Emmanuel has produced a variety of radio programs and is now a co-host of the Arabic TV show, Taking off the Mask. His participation at the Anabaptist consultation on Islam at Eastern Mennonite University resulted in a book called: Anabaptist Meeting Muslims.

Tuesday’s sessions also include a discussion for pastoral leaders on how the Church can extend a hand of friendship to a steadily growing religious group in Canada. Emmanuel Ali El-Shariff will lead participants in a discussion of how to reach our neighbours with the love of Christ. Hearing Emmanuel’s story will provide valuable insights.
