CMU’s Residential Policies are intended to create a healthy Christian community.
Residential students are responsible for their own activities and for those of their visitors. Students need to ensure that all activities are in keeping with the CMU Community Guidelines.
Quiet Hours
In order to ensure an appropriate environment for sleep and study, residences and apartments are expected to be quiet between the hours of 11 pm and 7 am.
An attitude of respect for others in the community is expected at all times. This applies to the use of stereos, musical instruments and loud conversations.
Open and Closed Residence Hours
CMU dormitories are separated into men and women’s wings. During “open residence” hours men and women have the opportunity to host members of the opposite gender in their rooms. During "closed residence" hours no persons of the opposite gender are allowed in the dormitory.
Open Residence Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 5 pm – 9:30 pm
Friday: 5 pm – 11:30 pm
Saturday: 12:30 pm – 11:30 pm
Sunday: 12:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Overnight Guests
Students are required to inform the Residence Director of any non-CMU student staying overnight on campus. Extended stays will be subject to an appropriate fee. Meals for guests are available for purchase in the Dining Hall.
Room Changes
Residential students who wish to change rooms during the school year must apply to Community Council for permission. If the request is approved, the student initiating a move will need to pay the higher room rate if applicable; the remaining roommate will continue to pay the original rate, assuming that he/she is open to be assigned a new roommate.
Alcohol on Campus
CMU’s policy is that alcohol is not permitted on campus. For more information please see the Community Guidelines.
