Vern is the Coordinator of Student Advising. He enjoys the balance between administrative tasks and working with students. This includes connecting students with academic resources (including tutoring and other academic assistance available at CMU), helping students with course selection and registration, program planning, and helping students choose a program of study that matches their life aspirations and goals.

Vern’s professional career has included Youth Ministry, Counselling, and working in Enrolment at Providence University College and Theological Seminary.

Vern and his wife Liona moved from Paraguay, South America, to Canada in 2003. Vern has been studying and/or working in Christian higher education most of these years. Born and raised in the heart of South America, Vern views education of all levels as a priviledge. Growing up in the Paraguayan Chaco and witnessing first-hand how education can impact a person’s life, he believes education is a key component to alleviating poverty, and in some ways, suffering in this world.

Outside of CMU Vern enjoys spending time with friends, vegetable gardening, artistic painting, and reading.
