{"id":3223,"date":"2012-09-28T19:09:36","date_gmt":"2012-09-29T00:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/?p=3223"},"modified":"2012-10-04T17:02:22","modified_gmt":"2012-10-04T22:02:22","slug":"cmu-welcomes-bruxy-cavey-to-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/2012\/cmu-welcomes-bruxy-cavey-to-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"CMU Welcomes Bruxy Cavey to Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/CaveyBruxy1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3224\" title=\"Bruxy Cavey\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/CaveyBruxy1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"139\" \/><\/a>September 28, 2012\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 On Tuesday, October 2, Pastor Bruxy Cavey will be a guest speaker on CMU\u2019s campus during an all-day conference with Church leaders and CMU faculty and students on the topic: \u201cGetting, Giving, and Living the Gospel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The conference, sponsored by CMU\u2019s Institute for Theology and the Church, takes place in CMU\u2019s Chapel (on the south side of CMU\u2019s Shaftesbury campus). Participants may register at the door ($40).<\/p>\n<p>Bruxy Cavey is the teaching pastor of multi-site church The Meeting House, based in Oakville, Ontario with satellite churches throughout Ontario and in communities around the world.\u00a0 The Meeting House is considered to be one of the largest and most innovative churches in Canada, with a vision to \u201ccreate safe places for spiritual seekers to ask questions and develop a thoughtful faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cavey, author of <em>End of Religion,<\/em> is known for his engaging presentations. His scholarly approach and \u201crefreshing honesty\u201d have earned him a reputation as a popular guest for television and radio interviews and as a featured speaker on university campuses worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The general public is welcome to attend CMU\u2019s Tuesday October 2 Chapel Service at 11:30 a.m., where Cavey will be speaking. He will also be meeting with CMU\u2019s Outtatown students when Guatemala and South Africa teams return to the CMU campus in Winnipeg for a special session on October 2. The teams will spend additional time with Cavey at Camp Arnes on October 3 and October 4.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBruxy Cavey does a great job of helping people understand the importance of knowing Jesus \u2013 not just knowing about him,\u201d says Outtatown Director Priebe. \u201cHe also invites people to consider what it means for Jesus to be our Lord.
