{"id":3609,"date":"2013-04-24T09:32:47","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T14:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/?p=3609"},"modified":"2013-04-24T09:32:47","modified_gmt":"2013-04-24T14:32:47","slug":"student-profiles-rafael-amaya-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/2013\/student-profiles-rafael-amaya-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Profiles \u2013 Rafael Amaya (2013)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/RSB_RafaelAmaya.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3610\" alt=\"RSB_RafaelAmaya\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/RSB_RafaelAmaya-300x300.jpeg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/RSB_RafaelAmaya-300x300.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/RSB_RafaelAmaya-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/media_archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/RSB_RafaelAmaya.jpeg 592w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>April 24, 2013 \u2013 After attending a different university, Rafael Amaya chose to study at CMU\u2019s Redekop School of Business (RSB) to complete his education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I looked into RSB, I found a school that gives professionals a combination of technical skills and human values that will not only allow them to meet the demands of the modern business world, but will also help prepare them to make a positive difference in our communities,\u201d Amaya says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI chose the RSB because it is allowing me to obtain a business education with Christian values.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amaya enjoys the small class sizes at CMU because they allow him to form close relationships with both his classmates and professors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a higher-quality learning experience,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>He has also been involved in the executive team of the RSB Students\u2019 Association, and was able to travel to Niagara Falls, Ont. last year for the annual Business as a Calling conference put on by Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA).<\/p>\n<p>There, he participated in MEDA\u2019s Student Case Competition \u2013 a competition in which seven student teams were challenged to develop a business plan for Winterfield Greenbau Construction Co. from Waterloo, Ont.
