Canadian Mennonite University wants you to join in the festive fun at its annual Christmas at CMU concert.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">event takes place on Saturday, November 25 at the university (500 Shaftesbury Blvd.). There are two concerts: one at 2:00 PM and the other at 7:00 PM. Admission for both concerts is free.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAll<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> are welcome to attend this magnificent event,\u201d says Dr. Dietrich Bartel, Dean of the CMU School of Music. \u201cThe decorations have been hung with care, people are baking cookies, Father Christmas is preparing to join us, and musicians from the CMU community are<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> eagerly anticipating their chance to perform.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/uploaded\/images\/\/xmasatcmuposter.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cmu.ca\/uploaded\/images\/\/xmasatcmuposter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"502\" \/><\/a>More<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> than 100 performers are involved in the event, which features CMU choirs; vocal and instrumental jazz; a classical guitar ensemble; and performances by the university\u2019s music faculty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Christmas<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> at CMU is a multi-generational, interactive event that allows family, friends, and neighbours of all ages to mingle in CMU\u2019s beautiful heritage building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Part<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> of the event\u2019s appeal is that people who attend do not have to sit in the same spot for an hour-and-a-half.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Music<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> ensembles will be stationed in different parts of the university, allowing attendees to create their own concert by walking around the festively decorated campus\u2014all while enjoying hot apple cider and cookies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Now<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> in its 17<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> year, this year\u2019s Christmas at CMU event once again features a couple of items on the schedule specifically for children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Children<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> and parents are welcome to make music with Music Therapy students at \u201cChristmas for All Ages!\u201d in CMU\u2019s Faculty &amp; Staff Lounge. Afterward, Bartel will read\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>How the Grinch Stole Christmas<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> entire CMU community comes together for this event,\u201d Bartel says. \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to see.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Christmas<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> at CMU will end with an audience carol sing in the Loewen Athletic Centre, an annual tradition that always culminates with everyone singing Handel\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>Hallelujah Chorus<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> The carol sing will be accompanied by the university\u2019s newest ensemble, the CMU Community Concert Band.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> it was first held in 2001, Christmas at CMU has become an important event on the university\u2019s calendar.
