Melanie Penner works as CMU's Practicum Coordinator and Education Facilitator.  In her role, she strives to facilitate meaningful practicum experiences for prospective teachers, connecting theory with practice.

 

A certified teacher, and a CMU grad before that, Melanie has a range of teaching and curriculum development experiences in Canada and New York. Melanie has facilitated outdoor and place-based education as well as language instruction for children and has designed and facilitated training and professional development for a cohort of teachers she managed as part of a community-based learning program. Her focus has consistently been building meaningful relationships and partnerships and creating opportunities for children, teachers, and community members to shape learning together.

 

In addition to her professional interests, Melanie enjoys bicycling, gardening, making music with friends and fine tuning her French.
