CMU Community Concert Band
The CMU Concert Band is open to all CMU students, regardless of major, and welcomes members from other post-secondary institutions as well as the wider musical community. This ensemble provides brass, woodwind and percussion players with the opportunity to extend their ensemble performance skills and enjoyment in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.
The new CMU Band Director, Virginia Helmer, brings a wealth of experience to the group as a long time music educator and conductor. She directed the Westwood Community Band from 2017- 2026 and has served as Artistic Director of the Winnipeg Wind Ensemble since 2020.
The band will perform several times throughout the year, including at the annual Christmas at CMU event (last Saturday in November) and a spring concert in early April.
Acceptance into the ensemble is by audition. Returning members do not need to audition.
