Tammy experiments with a range of media to create images that reflect personal experience. Her art contemplates life and often involves figures of women, including references to women who have impacted her artistic journey, including her mother and grandmother. Three is a extension of these themes, celebrating the ways Tammy has found her creative self - a reflection of not only the artist but also the women who have supported her in her art journey.

Opening reception Friday May 8 at 7:00 PM
Born and raised in southern Manitoba, Tammy Hendrickx is a white settler with Mennonite roots.
Tammy received her BFA from the University of Manitoba and her MACT in Valbonne, France from Michigan State University. As a visual artist, Hendrickx explores the medium of acrylic paint, along with other forms of drawing media and collage. Hendrickx taught art at the Frankfurt International School and lived in Germany for 18 years. While living in Passau, Germany, she was active in the art community and regularly exhibited. A major highlight for Hendrickx was in 2007, she was accepted into an artist exchange between Malaga, Spain and Passau, Germany. She spent three weeks painting in a monastery with three other artists from Passau. The work produced with the theme, Von Bruecke und Wasser (From Bridge and Water) was exhibited in Malaga and Passau. Hendrickx is passionate about art and art education and continues to be involved in the community of Morden. In November 2024, she was accepted into the Rural One on One mentorship program through MAWA. My mentor, Leesa Streifler, helped me get back into my art practice.
