A precise and focused perspective on Christian symbolism through kiri-e, Japanese paper-cutting to make intricate two-dimensional artworks. This body of work primarily features New Testament stories and scenes from Jesus’ life, offering a clear dialogue with Biblical passages.

Join visiting artist, Gen Tsuboi at MHC Gallery for a workshop exploring kiri-e - Japanese paper cutting.

Gen Tsuboi is visiting from Japan to celebrate the opening of his new exhibition, "Present From God".

Come early to see the artwork, then join us as Gen demonstrates how to make a simple kiri-e. All materials will be provided for you to try your hand at making a few kiri-e to take home. With Advent around the corner, you might try your hand at making kiri-e of common Christmas symbols such as the angels, the star, or sheep (examples provided) or wherever your imagination might lead!

The ticket price is $35.00 and includes all supplies including black Japanese paper, and a small cutting board and craft knife that are yours to keep. Purchase tickets here!
