Connie-Bart Hamel

November 7 – December 20, 2025
Opening November 7 at 7:00 PM

“All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.”

Thus begins the “Prayer for our Earth” by Pope Francis, and likewise the creative inspiration for Connie Bart-Hamel’s new exhibition, “Wood Heaven and Nature Sing 2?” at MHC Gallery.

Connie’s work is inspired by a creative impetus to play with a variety of media—wood, paint, photography, and more—and her strong cultural roots: deeply Catholic, rooted in a blend of settler ancestry of Roman Catholic, Ukrainian and Greek Orthodox, and the farm life of growing up north of Brandon, Manitoba. Visitors to the Gallery can expect playful and meaningful exploration of Christian symbolism through the lens of nature, gender, faith, and art.
