Financial and Student Services Advisor
The Financial and Student Services Advisor is a full-time position responsible for providing a full range of financial, career services and program supports to students. This person will report to the Dean of Student Life and work closely with the Assistant Director of Enrolment.
Financial Services Responsibilities – 2/3
Student Loans
• Assist new and returning Canadian and US students with securing loans and ensuring compliance of student loans with provincial, federal (Canada and US) requirements
• Complete RESP, Bank forms and other financial forms
Awards – Scholarships and Bursaries
• Serve as a member of the Awards and Retention Committees
• Manage returning student merit awards and tracks letters to donors
• Manage the bursary awards once a year, matching students to donor criteria
• Work with the Development Department to understand terms of reference for donor scholarships and bursaries
• Update donor designated scholarship and bursary notebook
• Manage camp wage bursaries
Formal Interaction with Students
• Work with payment plans with students and serves as liaison with finance office
• Conduct financial entrance and exit interviews with students
• Develop and lead financial counselling/workshops with students and parents
Administration
• Maintain financial files and spreadsheets (student loans, payment agreements, bursaries, scholarships)
Career and Student Services Responsibilities – 1/3
• Assist students with aptitude and career inventories
• Lead seminars on vocations and employment trends
• Facilitate Resume Writing seminars
• Facilitate Job Interview Training
• Help students develop job search strategies
• Identify and advertise Service Learning Opportunities
• Plan and host annual Career Fair on campus
• Facilitate Campus Job Board postings and information
• Establish and maintain Career Resource Website
• Additional students support services to be determined

Student Residence Assistant
Canadian Mennonite University located in Winnipeg, Manitoba invites applications for a Student Residence Assistant. This is a 10 month half-time (20 hours/week) position starting August, 2010. Inquiries should be directed to Dianna Robson, Director of Human Resources drobson@cmu.ca.
Summary:
The incumbent of this position will assist the Residence Director with his/her primary responsibility for the well being of the residential community. This person must be able to relate effectively to students and faculty/staff and needs to have a keen awareness of the needs within the community and how to address situations appropriately. S/he she will supervise the Residence Assistants and help promote wholesome structures, activities and standards within the community.
Responsibilities:
1. Primary responsibility for the Student Residence Assistant include:
• Living in an apartment on campus
• Being available evenings and weekends
• Together with other RD, ensuring readiness of the residence for occupancy by students (check with
maintenance staff re furniture for dorm rooms, apartments, lounges, etc.)
• On-going supervision and support of RAs
• Promoting the development of a healthy Christian community
• Providing pastoral care as appropriate
• Responding to health and wellness needs
• Frequent interaction with residents at mealtimes and snack times
• Promoting local church involvement
• Coordinating residential community events (potlucks, movie nights, etc.)
2. Other responsibilities include:
• Attend Student Leadership Retreats
• Attend Fall Retreat
• Attend chapels (when possible)
• Participate with other Student Life staff in general program delivery
• Committee Memberships: Student Life Departmental meetings, All Staff meetings
Working Conditions:
The salary is based on the assumption that the employee will work the equivalent of a half-time position from August to April. Given the undefined nature of residential supervision and the fact that the employee's place of employment is also where the employee will live, it may be difficult to configure this position in terms of a specified number of hours.
The Student Residence Assistant will need to be able to exercise personal judgment in terms of a responsible balancing
of time. However, the following is assumed:
• Available on campus every 4 evenings. 4 evenings on call (with the RD cell phone) and 4 evenings off, alternating with the Residence Director.
• Frequent interaction with students at meals and evening snack. The Student Residence Assistant is encouraged, at the institution's expense, to have four meals in the CMU dining hall per week (Sept.-April).
Qualifications:
• It would be desirable if this person had completed an undergraduate degree including some theological training.
• S/he should have an understanding of residential life, work experience with college age students, and the ability to work well with the student life team.
• A personal commitment to the church, and the mission of CMU
• Excellent communications skills; ability to communicate effectively electronically, verbally, and in writing

Information Technology Technician
Summary:
The IT Technician will assist the IT administrator in facilitating access by staff, faculty and students to CMU data in a timely and secure manner. This person must be able to relate effectively to non-technical people in an environment where priorities can change quickly.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the IT Administrator in supporting and maintaining the network infrastructure
• Maintain residence network and firewall
• Support user applications
• Support student and staff portals
• Maintain equipment (audio visual, computers, printers)
• Assist the IT Administrator in supporting and maintaining terminal services
• Coordinate IT work for student employee(s)
• Provide some after hours support
• Maintain and upgrade wireless network
• IT administrator backup
Qualifications:
• Accreditation or Certifications such as Microsoft MCSE would be an asset
• It would be desirable if this person had post secondary education in computer science, information technology, networking, system administration and/or hardware maintenance
• Experience with networks and servers
