CMU offers an interdisciplinary major in Social Science in the Bachelor of Arts degree programs. Students may choose to include a concentration in one of four areas within either the four-year or the three-year major. The following options are available:

B.A., 4-year, major, B.A., 3-year, major in Social Science

The Social Science major is an interdisciplinary major, available in either the four-year or the three-year Bachelor of Arts. Students may choose to include one of the following concentrations within either the four-year or the three-year major: Business and Organizational Administration; Communications and Media; Counseling Studies; Intercultural Studies; Social Service; Disaster Recovery Studies. Alternatively, students may complete a minor in any of the six areas listed above, to present with majors other than the interdisciplinary Social Science majors.

B.A., 4-year, B.A., 3-year, major in Social Science, concentration in Social Service

Through this concentration, you will learn knowledge and skills required for future work and service in a range of public and non-profit human service and social welfare organizations; understand theories and principles related to the effective delivery of social services to individuals, groups and communities; gain analytical capabilities on justice and peace-oriented approaches to social services; and prepare to enter further professional programs in the area of social services and justice.
