How much does it cost to study at CMU for a year? A full-time Canadian student living in the dorm and using the full meal plan can expect to pay about $13,000 (approx.) for two semesters of studies at CMU. (All prices in Canadian dollars.)
An international student (including U.S.) taking full-time courses, living in dorm and using the full meal plan can expect to pay about $18,000. (All prices in Canadian dollars.)
The outline below gives a general idea of the breakdown in costs for one year, as a full time (30 credit hours) Canadian student. International fees only differ in tuition cost and health insurance, which are noted. This calculation does not include Applied Music course costs. This outline is based on 2011-12 fees.
How much your education at CMU will cost depends on your own
specific situation. The variables include:
Course load: The number of classes and type of
classes can alter the costs of tuition, books and supplies.
Living arrangements: The cost of Residence or
of rent, groceries and monthly bills must be factored in. (The
cost of renting apartments can be shared with roommates.)
Transportation: Chances are you're not going
to stay on campus for the entire year. Set money aside for getting
around Winnipeg and traveling home. (e.g. an unlimited bus pass is
$60.10 per month for Post-Secondary Students.)
Books: The cost of books will vary depending
on whether you buy new or used books. (e.g. at the student-run
Witmarsum used book store.)
Entertainment: Money may be tight, but you'll
want to allow yourself some funds to see the latest movie, go for
coffee with friends, go to the symphony, see a play, watch a
hockey, baseball or football game, or eat at a
restaurant.
Undergraduate studies: $615 per 3 credit hour course (or $6,150 for 30 credit hours)
Graduate studies: $615 per 3 credit hour course
International tuition fees
$1,077 per 3 credit hour course (or $10,770 for 30 credit hours).
