CURRENT VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Canadian Mennonite University located in Winnipeg, Manitoba invites applications for a Volunteer Coordinator. This is a volunteer position with a time commitment of approximately 10-12 hours per week. Canadian Mennonite University is proud to be a “university of the church” and, as such, is a vitally connected to the wider church network. CMU provides life shaping learning experiences for youth and young adults as well as being a rich resource for churches, individuals and the broader community. To successfully maintain its broad agenda and fulfill its mandate CMU requires support at many levels, including sustaining prayer, financial stability and various forms of direct personal involvement.
Within this context CMU has made a decision to consciously welcome volunteers. The intersection of institutional needs and the time and talents of the volunteer will shape the timing and nature of volunteer contributions.
Goals:
1) To support and encourage the important mandate CMU has been called to fulfill.
2) To provide a meaningful venue for the faithful use of available human resource gifts in the community.
3) To provide an additional link with the supporting constituency.
4) To ensure the successful completion of tasks important to CMU. Most of these tasks would have some flexibility and would not be time-sensitive.
Role of the Volunteer Coordinator:
1) To work with CMU staff in identifying tasks suitable for volunteers.
2) To create job descriptions for volunteers.
3) To recruit and orientate volunteers who are compatible with the needs of CMU.
4) To coordinate the activities of volunteers, ensuring they are comfortable with the tasks expected of them and that there is adequate supervision and support.
5) To ensure volunteers are appreciated and thanked, both formally and informally, for their contributions.
