Transfer Students

Continue your journey at CMU. CMU welcomes transfer students from many educational backgrounds. If you are thinking that CMU is the right place for you to continue your post-secondary journey, here is some information that you need to know.

  1. Courses taken at other post-secondary institutions will be evaluated for transfer credit once a student has been conditionally admitted to CMU with the necessary documentation in place (this includes a study permit for international students).
  2. The Registrar's Office will determine course credit transfer. In some cases, course outlines may be requested to evaluate how a course will transfer into a CMU program.
  3. Transfer credit into undergraduate programs is considered only for courses where a student has achieved a grade of 'C' or higher. For graduate courses, a student must achieve a grade of 'B' or higher to be considered for transfer credit.
  4. Credits older than 10 years may be considered outdated and therefore not transferable. They will be considered on a course-by-course basis.
  5. A maximum of 60 credit-hours may be transferred to a CMU undergraduate program from other postsecondary institutions. For graduate programs, refer to specific residency requirements for the program you intend to complete.

Each program at CMU has specific course and residency requirements. It will be important for all transfer students to work with an advisor to determine how their transfer courses can fit into a CMU degree.

Be in touch with an Admission Counsellor for more information on being a transfer student at CMU.
