When to Register
April 11 Registration begins for fall & winter courses
June 30 Early Registration incentive ends
August 22 Last day for regular registration
Aug 23 – Sept 7 Late registration period ($20 late fee applies)
September 8-19 Course change period for fall & winter courses
January 3-12 Course change period for winter courses
Registrations submitted after August 22th will be assessed a $20.00 late fee.
On-line
- If you are a current student or have been admitted/conditionally admitted to CMU you may register online.
- You will need to provide your CMU student number (Your CMU student number should appear on your letter of admission).
- You will need to provide your e-mail address.
- You may find it an advantage to choose the on-line registration option, because then you may receive more immediate feedback or approval on your course selection.
By Mail or Fax
- Fill out the registration form in your registration guide.
- Mail the completed form to: Coordinator of Student Advising, 500 Shaftesbury Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2N2
- Fax the completed form to (204) 837-7415, Attn: Adelia Neufeld Wiens, Coordinator of Student Advising

Problems with your Registration
- If there are problems in your registration, the Coordinator of Student Advising will contact you by email to discuss changes. Check your email regularly.
- Incomplete or incorrect registrations cause significant delays that may result in not getting into the classes you wanted.
- Due to summer holidays schedules, there may be delays in processing registrations. It is in your best interest to register by June 30th.
When your Registration is Approved
New Students: A student schedule will be sent to you by mail. It will include your username and password so that you can access your student information online using the CMU Student Portal.
Returning Students: Check your online CMU Student Portal.
Registration Checklist:
- Registration requirements met for your specific program.
- Include only courses for which you meet course prerequisites.
- Register for BOTH the fall and winter semesters.
- Registration is for no more than 17 credit hours per semester, including ensemble and applied music courses.
- Indicates the year (level) of any applied music course or ensemble you are choosing.
- Ensure there are no scheduling conflicts.
- Include no courses with examinations scheduled for times when you are not available.
- Records the course numbers and course names correctly.
- If you are hoping to take courses at another university as a visiting student, include a completed “Request for a Letter of Permission” form (deadline is July 1).
