Community Council
Community Council meets weekly to discuss issues and concerns that affect the CMU community. The goal of Community Council is to encourage positive living and community development among the CMU body. It works at incorporating that which we learn in the classroom with how we apply it to community life. This Council is unique because it includes Student Life staff and representatives of the following groups: teaching faculty, Maintenance staff, Residence Assistants, Commuter Assistants, and Student Council.
Residence Assistants
Residence Assistants (RAs) provide leadership in fostering a positive living-learning environment within the residential community. RAs are responsible for:
• planning and implementing orientation events;
• helping new students become familiar with residence facilities and procedures;
• nurturing relationships of support and accountability;
• developing activities and programs that foster Christian community;
• organizing and leading residence meetings;
• encouraging accountability within the CMU community.
Dorm Council
Dorm Council meets on a weekly basis for mutual support and to discuss issues and concerns related to community life in the dorms. Changes in residential policy can be proposed by Dorm Council but are subject to approval by the Community Council. Membership on the Dorm Council includes all dorm RAs and is chaired by the Residence Director.
Apartment Council
Apartment Council meets on a weekly basis for mutual support and to discuss issues and concerns related to community life in the apartments. Membership on Apartment Council includes all apartment RAs and is chaired by the Residence Director.
Joint meetings between the Dorm Council and the Apartment Council are scheduled as needed.
Kitchen Council
The Kitchen Council meets on a monthly basis or as needed to discuss concerns and issues related to food services. The Kitchen Council is chaired by the Residence Director, and includes Food Services staff as well as RA representatives.
