Wenyu Qian

Teaching Lecturer and Lab Steward

Wenyu is originally from a small town near Shanghai, China, and he completed his B. Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB. During his undergraduate studies, he performed research in Pd- and Cu-catalyzed decarboxylative corss-coupling reactions under the supervision of Prof. Rylan Lundgren. He finished his M. Sc. with Prof. Jean-Philip Lumb at McGill University in Montreal, QC, with a focus on methodology development involving aryl azocarboxylate motifs. Starting from September 2023, he has taught chemistry at both Champlain College St-Lambert and John Abbott College, as well as high-school math and physics at Faith-Christian Academy in Quebec.

In July 2025, he joined CMU as a Teaching Lectuere and Lab Steward.
