Social Work Merit Awards
Merit Awards recognize CMU students who are gifted in specific areas of achievement and who desire to excel and contribute to CMU in these areas. Each year, up to 15 Merit Awards ($2,000 per year for up to three years) are given to students upon entering CMU.
Social Work Merit Awards recognize CMU students who desire to walk with others toward healing, justice, and real change and who aim to enter the social work program at CMU. Each year, up to two Social Work Merit Awards (maximum value $6,000; $2,000 per year for up to three years) are awarded to students transferring into the Bachelor of Social Work at CMU. In order to qualify, students must submit the Scholarship Application and Bachelor of Social Work application package. All materials must be submitted no later than April 30.
Eligibility
- Is a transfer student accepted into the Bachelor of Social Work program
- Has no more than 60 credit hours of post-secondary education
- Plans to enroll in full-time studies at CMU (minimum nine credit hours per semester)
- Has a minimum GPA of 3.5
A student may apply for one or all of the Merit Awards and also for a Leadership Scholarship. However, students may only receive one Merit Award (Academic, Music, Science, Business, Social Work or Athletic) or the Leadership Scholarship.
Continuing Eligibility:
- GPA of 3.5
- Enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours per semester at CMU
- Continued enrolment in CMU's Bachelor of Social Work program
Application Requirements
The following are required to be considered for the Social Work Merit Award:
- A completed Bachelor of Social Work application package including references.
- A completed scholarship application form.
Application forms must be submitted by April 30 to be eligible. Application forms are available to current CMU applicants on their application portal.
