Music BMus/BA
Why CMU?
CMU offers outstanding instruction from highly qualified, caring and accessible faculty, and a program that balances rigorous discipline and demanding course material with empathy, and creative imagination. Our professors are committed to students' success and personal growth, and our low student/faculty ratios ensure that each student can receive individual attention throughout his or her program.
We emphasize a collaborative approach to music-making and study, and offer a wide variety of outstanding ensembles including three choirs (Upper Voices, Lower Voices and CMU Singers), Rock Band, Handbells, Concert Band, and Orchestra. Our courses also provide students with plenty of opportunities to hone their performance skills through weekly recitals and other on- and off-campus performance opportunities.
Our facilities feature excellent performance venues and plenty of practice space, plus three Media studios with professional-grade audio recording hardware and software.
Through a highly demanding program, with highly invested instructors, CMU's Music program produces graduates who are effective in a diverse and constantly changing society, well-prepared for careers in music and/or graduate studies.
