Barista - Folio Cafe
Located in Marpeck Commons, Folio Café is part of Canadian Mennonite University. We prepare and serve coffee, tea, small meals, pastries, and gelato. At Folio Café, we pursue quality and comfort, and we’re passionate about fairly traded coffee and tea, as well as locally sourced food from independent producers. We are looking for friendly, engaging, and customer service-minded Baristas. At Folio Café, Baristas are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and specialty coffee.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide impeccable customer service.
- Work in a small team to prepare, assemble, and serve beverages, gelato, and small meals.
- Open and close out daily sales as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar and café space.
- Detail oriented and willing to invest time and energy in making excellent espresso, coffee, and tea drinks.
- Punctual, tidy, and clean in appearance and practice.
- Attend cuppings and training sessions.
- Professional at all times and in all situations.
- Follow safe work practices.
- Act as a representative of Folio and Canadian Mennonite University.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
At Folio Café, Baristas are frequently required to stand and walk; use their hands to handle or feel; reach with their hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, lift, and/or move heavy objects. This role operates in a fast-paced environment and involves working in close proximity to customers and staff. This position also requires working irregular hours including evenings and weekends.

- Visibly enjoys working in a high-volume sales setting and ability to work effectively and efficiently.
- Able to follow a recipe and learn basic cooking and food service skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
