CMU Faculty

I'm a creative writing instructor and occasional English instructor with a specialty in contemporary Asian and Asian North American literature. I'm also a writer and have published three books of poetry, a collection of short stories (Floating Shore), and a memoir about my Japanese Canadian identity (The Emperor's Orphans.) I have also co-translated the Japanese children's poetry of Misuzu Kaneko with Michiko Tsuboi for an illustrated children's book, Are You an Echo: The Lost Poetry of Misuzu Kaneko.
