Music

Why CMU?
CMU offers outstanding instruction from highly qualified, caring and accessible faculty, and a program that balances rigorous discipline and demanding course material with empathy, and creative imagination. Our professors are committed to students' success and personal growth, and our low student/faculty ratios ensure that each student can receive individual attention throughout his or her program.
We emphasize a collaborative approach to music-making and study, and offer a wide variety of outstanding emsembles including choirs, guitar ensemble, jazz band, vocal jazz, worship band, and small chamber groups. Our courses also provide students with plenty of opportunities to hone their performance skills, through weekly recitals and annual Opera Workshops.
Our facilities feature excellent performance venues and plenty of practice space.
Through a highly demanding program, with highly invested instructors, CMU's Music program produces graduates who are effective in a diverse and constantly changing society, well-prepared for careers in music and/or graduate studies.
