CMU/MSC-affiliated research project awarded $2.6M

Canadian universities and project partners awarded $2.6M in funding from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Government of Canada’s Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD).
Principal investigators are Dr. Pashupati Chaudhary from Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD), Dr. Ram Rana from Anamolbiu Private Limited, and Manish N. Raizada from the University of Guelph.

When Barbara Bucheli graduated from high school, she knew she wanted to study world issues and learn about ways local, national, and global problems are being addressed.
“I wanted to be educated on effective actions to prevent, solve, or reduce problems we face,” she says. “And I wanted to find where my skills and passion fit in the bigger picture of future local, national, and global development and improvement.”

Advocacy. The Government. Discipleship. Where do I fit? This year’s Ottawa Student Seminar put on by the Mennonite Central Committee Ottawa Office tackled the question of faith, politics, and the world that is created when these two intertwine. Fifteen or so students gathered from across Canada to hear from members of Parliament, MCC partners, and each other about what it means to be an advocate for change in our world, as well as followers of Christ.

Bobbie Macdonald (MSC '12, IDS Honours) is appreciative of the teaching he received while pursuing his honours degree in International Development Studies at MSC.
He credits the interdisciplinary nature of the International Development Studies (IDS) program at MSC with equipping him with a broad understanding of development and encouraging his interest in learning about how the world works.

Canadian Mennonite University is pleased to announce a new Masters of Arts in Peacebuilding and Collaborative Development, which will bridge the fields of peacebuilding-conflict resolution studies and development-transformational justice studies.
CMU’s new MA program builds on the institution’s strong undergraduate programming in the areas of peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and international development and reflects one of CMU’s core values: educating for peace and justice.
