Bachelor of Social Work BSW
Program Requirements
CMU’s Bachelor of Social Work is a four-year, 120 credit hour degree program. Students will complete a minimum of 27 credit hours (one year of study) before receiving final admission to the program. The remaining 93 credit hours (three years of study) will be completed after receiving final admission to the program.

Please Note: The courses required for admission to the Bachelor of Social Work program are indicated with asterisks. For Fall 2025 applicants, SWRK-1000 is recommended for admission and must be completed within the first year of the program.

SWRK-1000
Exploring Social Work Practice
This course is an introduction to the profession of social work. It will examine the history and theoretical evolution of social work practice through a critical lens.
Available for visiting and extended education students.
Fall: Tues/Thurs, 10:00–11:15 AM in person
Winter: Tues, 6:00–8:45 PM online
