Matthew Pritchard

"As an international student from the United States with an intercultural and interfaith family, finding a graduate program where we would all feel at home was my top priority. We found that welcoming spirit immediately at CMU and in the vibrant, diverse community of Winnipeg.

My fellow students in the Master of Divinity program are incredibly thoughtful and wise, and my courses truly value critical thought and diversity of opinion. As someone who has been in ministry for many years and is dedicated to the future of the church as the Associate Conference Minister of Central District Conference in Mennonite Church USA, CMU has provided a wonderful space for the deep study and contemplation I was seeking. CMU provides the perfect environment to engage with how the church can become more responsive and relevant for future generations."

– Matthew Pritchard, USA (Master of Divinity)

Nickeshia Brooks

"As a small-town country girl from Jamaica, I have fallen in love with Canada since the first time I visited. Even though it took me a few years to finally make the decision to stop teaching and attend CMU, coming here made me realize I should have done it sooner. CMU truly feels like my family away from home. The campus is a vibrant, close-knit community that genuinely cares for its students. The professors take the time to listen even if it's just to hear you ramble or share what's on your mind. Every classroom encourages open discussion, where everyone's ideas and perspectives are valued in a supportive, non-judgmental learning environment.

CMU is definitely a place for everyone no matter what walk of life you come from."

– Nickeshia Brooks, Jamaica (Bachelor of Social Work)

Ruvini Ediriweera

"As an MBA student from Sri Lanka who is living in Concord Apartments on campus, CMU has truly become my second home. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced by a community that values diversity, compassion, and academic excellence. The small class sizes and supportive professors have helped me grow both intellectually and personally, while the friendships I've built here have made every day feel meaningful. CMU isn't just where I study, it's where I've found belonging, purpose, and a place to dream boldly."

– Ruvini Ediriweera, Sri Lanka (Master of Business Administration)

Trisha Boodhoo

"I never planned to end up at CMU when I first typed 'Hogwarts-looking university' in my search bar. Coming from a small tropical Island on the other side of the world, I was not expecting to choose CMU as my first option, nor was I expecting to find a family here.

After several years of studying science, I decided to take my first philosophy class. That choice single-handedly changed the entire course of my life. The professors, the experiences, and the people I have met have not only shaped me intellectually but have also helped me grow and flourish. I am grateful for the knowledge I've acquired as an English and philosophy major and for the patience, empathy, strength, and resilience I've learned while navigating my early 20s. I would never trade these gifts for anything. Conversations with professors and courses like Augustine's City of God have transformed how I live and my understanding of what it means to be human. My instincts led me here and I cannot be more grateful to have found a place that feels like home."

– Trisha Boodhoo, Mauritius (Bachelor of Arts, Interdisciplinary: English and Philosophy / Biblical and Theological Studies Minor)
