Contracted Sessional Instructor (Ensemble Director)

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) invites applications for a sessional instructor position to teach in the area of Music.

Timetable: TBD (currently scheduled Mondays 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM)

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the rock and related genres of popular music (including, but not limited to R&B, Soul, Pop, Alternative, etc.) and ability to guide appropriate repertoire selection.
  • Significant experience leading a band in rehearsal and performance
  • Familiarity with standard rock instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals, backup vocals), and ability to coach players of all instruments
  • Ability to produce lead sheets/charts for players
  • Ability to create arrangements of original student songs

Remuneration: $3837.20, inclusive of 6% vacation pay

Responsibilities:

  • Repertoire selection, ensemble rehearsals (1.25 hours per week for 24 weeks)
  • Concert preparation and two performances annually (Christmas and Spring Concerts)
  • Evaluation of registered students (pass-fail)
