From Winnipeg to Cambodia: IDS Practicum builds relationships
When Tyler Loewen returned from his practicum to complete his four-year Honours International Development Studies degree at MSC, he had no idea the experience would lead to full time employment.
Yet, in the new year, Loewen will head to Cambodia for a three-year term with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) where he will serve as Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Coordinator.
MSC to host presentation on food sovereignty in Northern Manitoba
On November 8, MSC will host a presentation with Dr. Shirley Thompson entitled, Harvesting Hope and food sovereignty in Northern Manitoba.
Dr. Thompson’s presentation will explore risk factors for food insecurity in the North, and the role of Indigenous land use and land management practice.
MSC to host public lecture on interfaith peacebuilding
Menno Simons College is pleased to present Dr. Jan Bender Shetler in a public lecture on interfaith relations in the city of Harar, Ethiopia, later this month.
The result of an eight-year collaborative research project between Dr. Bender Shetler and fellow academic Dawit Yehualashet, the lecture explores how Muslims and Christians have been able to maintain relatively peaceful relations in Harar over the last century, despite close and potentially volatile interaction.
Former child soldier awarded MSC's Distinguished Alumni Award
Menno Simons College (MSC) is pleased to announce David Atem as the recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Alumnus Award.
A former child soldier from South Sudan, Atem came to Canada as a refugee in 2001.
