Faculty Position in Social Work

Canadian Mennonite University invites applications from candidates for a full-time faculty position (open-rank, professor, or teaching professor) in Social Work.

We are particularly interested in applicants who reflect one or more of the following priorities:

  • An Indigenous (to Turtle Island) scholar of social work
  • A scholar engaged with Indigenous-led or IBPOC/BIPOC-led organizations or community-building work, overlapping with or comprising an alternative to social work
  • A scholar who is a member of an equity-seeking community, including women, racialized and Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions
  • A scholar holding a PhD (or in process to complete) or an alternate terminal degree in social work or a close cognate degree
  • Or a scholar without a PhD, but with significant direct practice or related relevant experience

Applicants must have at minimum a Master’s level degree and at least one (1) degree in social work (e.g. BSW, MSW or PhD). The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and will be actively engaged with research in social work.

Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Indigenous Social Work Practices
  • Disability
  • Child Welfare
  • Adult/Youth Justice
  • Community Development
  • Feminist Practices
  • 2SLGBTQIA+ Practice

The appointment will begin January 1, 2027. Rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full) and appointment type (Professor or Teaching-Professor) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
