Barista

As a Barista, you will provide exceptional customer service while preparing and serving specialty coffee beverages. You will also prepare and serve tea, small meals, pastries, gelato, and locally sourced food products from independent producers, helping create a welcoming and memorable experience for every guest.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming experience for all guests.
  • Work as part of a small team to prepare and serve beverages, gelato, and light meals.
  • Complete opening and closing duties, including processing and balancing daily sales, as required.
  • Keep the café and bar areas clean, organized, and well maintained.
  • Prepare high-quality espresso, coffee, and tea beverages with care and attention to detail.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and follow high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Participate in training sessions and coffee tastings (cuppings).
  • Act professionally in all interactions with customers, coworkers, and visitors.
  • Follow all health, safety, and safe work procedures.
  • Represent Folio Café and Canadian Mennonite University in a positive and professional manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

As a Barista, you will spend much of your shift standing and walking. This role requires frequent use of your hands and arms, as well as occasional bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting or moving supplies and equipment. You will work in a fast-paced café environment and regularly interact with both customers and team members. This position may require evening and weekend shifts.
