In Memoriam: Plant a Living Tribute

There are moments in life when memory calls for something more enduring than words. Something rooted. Something that grows.

CMU invites you to honour a loved one by dedicating a tree on our campus, an act of remembrance that reaches far beyond the present moment. For a gift of $1,000, a tree will be dedicated and cared for, marked with a personalized plaque, creating a lasting place of tribute in the landscape that shapes the daily life of CMU students.

Imagine a student lingering for a moment, gathering their thoughts before stepping into a full day of learning beside the tree you've dedicated. Picture its branches shifting with the seasons—green in spring, bronzed in fall—marking time as the campus hums with conversation, music, and study. A memorial tree becomes part of the everyday rhythm of this place: steady, rooted, and quietly present.

In that way, a life remembered takes on a tangible and lasting shape, growing alongside the paths generations of students will walk.

Your tribute also strengthens the CMU commitment to environmental stewardship. Each tree contributes to a healthier, more sustainable campus—supporting biodiversity, capturing carbon, and creating spaces that invite reflection and community. These living markers become small but hopeful acts toward caring for the world God has entrusted to us.

A memorial tree is more than a symbol; it is a story still unfolding. It is a way of saying that the life you remember continues to give life to others.

If you would like to dedicate a tree, or learn more about available locations on campus, we would be honoured to walk with you through the process. Please call the Director of Donor Relations at 204.954.0510.

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord,
     whose trust is the Lord.
They shall be like a tree planted by water,
     sending out its roots by the stream.
It shall not fear when heat comes,
     and its leaves shall stay green;
in the year of drought it is not anxious,
     and it does not cease to bear fruit.
