Undergraduate Studies

Bachelor of Education After-Degree Program

Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)

Learning by doing is at the core of this program. You will spend 28 weeks of practicum in K-12 classrooms to gain a wide variety of experiences before you graduate, but that is not all of the learning by doing you will experience. You can expect to:

  • Observe literacy and numeracy instruction in elementary/middle and high school settings
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to get the school year started well
  • Co-teach in elementary/middle and high school, as well as urban and rural settings
  • Develop a year-long curriculum plan as a capstone project that you will present and share with your cohort so everyone is starting out their careers with a range of resources and ideas

Whether your goal is to teach at the high school level, become a reading specialist, move on to school administration, or spend your career welcoming Kindergarteners to school, you'll leave CMU with experience that matters.
