Position Summary
MDS Canada is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Summer Administrative Assistant to support our team. This role provides valuable experience in nonprofit administration, donor relations, and disaster response coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Update donor records by following up on returned mail and maintaining accurate database information
- Contact donors by phone or email to express appreciation for their support
- Organize and clean filing systems, including physical and digital records
- Provide administrative support to the Volunteer Manager as needed
- Assist the Operations Manager with tracking vehicle fleet records and organizing project files
- Provide support to the front desk at various times throughout the summer
Additional Responsibilities (as needed)
- One week of working at our MDS National Project in Denare Beach, SK (will be extra hours of work for this week)
- Assist with administrative coordination during potential emergency responses (e.g., wildfire evacuations)
- Provide transportation support for board members, guests, or volunteers
- Create identification badges for leadership volunteers
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum age of 19 years
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to obtain a Police Record Check

POSITION SUMMARY
The Counsellor is a member of BHF's integrated Therapeutic Community (TC) team and provides clinically informed counselling and consultation to support residents experiencing substance use, mental health, trauma, family, and social challenges.
Working within a shared-care, team-based model, the Counsellor contributes focused assessment, short-term therapeutic intervention, and clinical guidance to support residents in developing coping skills, improving emotional regulation, strengthening relationships, and preparing for successful transition to community living.
This role provides clinical depth while supporting not replacing the Therapeutic Community model, where the community itself remains the primary therapeutic environment. Counsellor involvement is goal-oriented, time-limited, and designed to strengthen engagement, stability, and skill development within the program.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Counselling & Therapeutic Support
- Provide individual, group, and family counselling within scope of practice
- Deliver short-term, goal-oriented counselling to support stabilization, insight, and functional coping
- Conduct focused clinical and psychosocial assessments to support understanding of resident needs within the TC environment
- Support residents in addressing substance use, mental health, trauma, family, and social concerns
- Apply evidence-informed approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and ecotherapy ("walk and talk")
- Deliver group-based seminars and workshops as a primary method of service delivery, with individual sessions used to support specific needs
Contribution to Shared Care
- Contribute clinical insight and recommendations to the shared resident plan in collaboration with Key Workers and the integrated team
- Support the team's understanding of underlying clinical and behavioural needs
- Translate clinical concepts into practical strategies that can be applied and reinforced in daily community living
- Participate in integrated planning, case discussions, and coordinated care activities
- Share relevant clinical observations while maintaining professional and ethical confidentiality standards
Consultation & Team Support
- Provide consultation and guidance to staff regarding trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation, and behavioural support strategies

Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, and privacy legislation

Cultural Awareness & Inclusion
- Deliver services in a respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive manner
- Demonstrate awareness of Indigenous cultures, intergenerational trauma, and culturally safe practice
- Support integration of cultural and traditional practices within the program environment
- Work collaboratively with Indigenous and Cultural Supports as part of the integrated care approach
QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related health or behavioural science field
- Registration with a relevant professional body, as required
Experience & Skills
- Experience providing counselling in mental health, addictions, residential, or community settings
- Experience working within recovery-oriented and trauma-informed frameworks
- Strong counselling, assessment, clinical formulation, and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within an integrated, team-based environment
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills

JOB SUMMARY
The Keyworker is a core member of Behavioural Health Foundation's integrated Therapeutic Community team within Addiction Treatment Services (ATS). Working under the direction of the Assistant Director and Director of Programs, the Keyworker supports residents experiencing substance use and mental health challenges through daily engagement, structured support, and coordinated care.
This role operates within a shared-care, integrated team model. While the Keyworker plays a central role in coordinating resident supports, responsibility for resident care is held collectively by the team.
One Team • One Plan • Shared Responsibility
ATS is a larger, co-ed residential program with higher resident capacity and a fast-paced environment. Keyworkers are expected to manage caseloads while maintaining consistency, organization, and quality of care.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide structured, day-to-day support to residents within a Therapeutic Community model, building professional and therapeutic relationships while reinforcing routines, expectations, and community participation.
- Complete assessments, contribute to the development and ongoing review of individualized and shared resident plans, and meet regularly with residents to monitor progress and adjust goals.
- Deliver counselling, education, crisis support, and learning-based, trauma-informed interventions within scope of practice, including referrals to clinical or specialized services as required.
- Support community operations by facilitating or assisting with groups, seminars, and meetings; promoting peer accountability; and modeling appropriate behaviour, communication, and professional boundaries.
- Monitor resident participation and behaviour, respond to incidents or changes in presentation, support resident orientation and discharge planning, and remain informed of daily program operations.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, including resident files, progress notes, reports, and incident documentation, and participate in team communication and meetings.
- Work collaboratively within an integrated team model, contributing to shared planning, decision-making, and consistency of practice while demonstrating accountability and mutual support.
- Provide services in a respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive manner, supporting Indigenous and cultural practices and participating in ongoing cultural awareness and learning.
QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Grade 12 with post-secondary education, diploma, or certificate in Addictions, Community Support, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience working in residential treatment or with individuals experiencing substance use, mental health challenges, and/or vulnerable populations is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide supportive counselling and resolve conflict effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a structured, team-based environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of Indigenous history, cultures, and perspectives, with the ability to provide services in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.

JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician supports the day-to-day upkeep, safety, and functionality of BHF's buildings and grounds. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this role assists with routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance to ensure a clean, safe, and well-functioning residential environment.
While the Maintenance Assistant does not provide direct resident care, the role is essential to supporting the Therapeutic Community by minimizing disruptions to daily routines and ensuring facilities remain safe and operational.
QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Some training or hands-on experience in building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, basic plumbing, electrical work, or general repairs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing as part of a team.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including basic documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with maintenance work.

The Wilderness Committee has an exciting opportunity for an engaging, motivated, team-oriented individual to join us as Outreach and Campaign Organizer at our Winnipeg office. This is a full-time, term position for 5 months, based on a 4-day, 32 hour work week from Mondays to Thursdays. This is an in-person position in our office.
The Wilderness Committee is a grassroots, people powered, wilderness preservation group that has a history of 45 years on the front line of environmental battles in BC and across Canada, with offices in Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg and Toronto. Recognizing that enshrining Indigenous rights and title is fundamental to addressing the biodiversity and climate crises, we have helped protect millions of hectares of wilderness, defended the most at-risk species in government offices and court rooms, and worked tirelessly to fight irresponsible fossil fuel development wreaking havoc on the climate and advocate for a just transition to a post-carbon society.
The Outreach and Campaign Organizer is responsible for supporting our campaign strategies in Manitoba, including public outreach and engagement, event organizing and canvass coordination. As an independent self-starter experienced in organizing and with an eye for details, the Outreach and Campaign Coordinator excels at coordinating events and trips, completing all logistics involved, and is adept at using and troubleshooting equipment needs for travel, event and field work. The Outreach and Campaign Organizer directly supports a wide variety of campaign tactics, from public outreach tables at public events, to field work, to data entry. They coordinate and support our door-to-door canvass. They collaborate with communications, production and fundraising staff as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Identify public outreach opportunities, prepare materials, set up events, coordinate volunteers and ensure the successful roll out of public education and information opportunities that motivate people to take action on critical environmental issues
- Engage with the public, gathering signatures and signups, and entering data into the database
- Coordinate events and other campaign activities, building plans, overseeing all logistics, equipment needs, permits, venues, supplies, insurance and so on, ensuring the successful implementation and facilitating post-event evaluations
- Collaborate with the communications and production teams on digital and print event promotion and amplification, and with the fundraising team on opportunities for raising funds
- Coordinate WC branding materials at events, organize art builds for events, stock supplies and materials in the office in an organized manner
- Provide support to the door-to-door and phone canvasses in Manitoba, in coordination with the National Canvass Directors and Winnipeg office staff team
- Support office operations including answering calls or emails, keeping equipment in working orders, resolving issues, coordinating work events and so on

You will have...
- At least 3 years' experience (paid or unpaid) in a non-profit organization in the environmental or other social justice movement
- Proven experience in outreach and public engagement
- Detail-oriented organization and coordination skills, and the ability to roll out activities and events involving multiple tasks and timelines
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience building relationships and interacting with the public, volunteers, partner organizations, First Nations, community groups and so on

The Behavioural Health Foundation (BHF) is a Therapeutic Community providing long-term bed-based treatment for adults and family units experiencing issues related to substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns. Programming includes individual and group counselling and focuses on wholistic person centered wellness. Adult education, employment development and life skills are key components of supporting residents to move to healthier coping and life choices.
BHF is one of the few programs where adults can enter with their children or reunify with children not in their care while they are in the program. With dedicated childcare and K-6 education on site, the program offers healing opportunities for the whole family. The Indigenous Services at BHF offer Traditional Teachings and Ceremonies to residents and community members. Traditional healing in a trauma informed environment has strengthened many members' success in changing their lives. The Outreach team supports members working to maintain healthy choices as they transition back into their communities.

JOB SUMMARY
The Program Support Worker is a key member of BHF's integrated Therapeutic Community (TC) team, supporting residents during evenings and weekends. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment through daily supervision, engagement, and reinforcement of community expectations. Working collaboratively within the integrated team model, the Program Support Worker supports residents' participation in programming and contributes to a consistent, recovery-focused community.

Documentation & Communication

QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Experience in a residential, community, or support setting is preferred
- Experience working with individuals with substance use and/or mental health challenges is an asset
- Lived experience is considered an asset
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of substance use, recovery, and Therapeutic Community principles
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and observation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Conflict resolution, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Basic documentation and computer skills
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check and child abuse registry check (no older than three months)
- A valid driver's license is an asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate is considered an asset.
- Valid First Aid / CPR Certification an asset
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
